Bosco delle Pianelle
Overview
Get ready for a journey through the heart of the Mediterranean forest and the Apulian agricultural landscape. You will walk along the paths scattered in the wooded area, that will constantly frame our trek experience. We will talk about the relationship that this territory has always had with Man throughout history, looking for the related traces. Also, we will notice a unique microclimatic phenomena that has allowed a special growth condition for a plant – the Hornbeam – that, otherwise, would grow only at greater heights.
WHY IS IT SPECIAL?
The Regional Natural Reserve of the Pianelle Forest is a unique place for its ecological, historical and landscape features. It has been strictly connected to the history of Man since ancient times. This place was used as a shelter during prehistory. It was also a place of pasture, wood extraction, collection of wild plants and a shelter for the Briganti in the post-unitary period. During this dense journey you will be accompanied by a passionate and expert guide, discovering the importance of the place in an active and dynamic way.
The tour ends with wine and local food tasting.
